ARTIST STATEMENT:

I am an oil painter who creates images that explore the validity of all life, and the equality of the animal soul.  I use my background in animation and visual effects to paint relatable characters, cinematic lighting, and special-effects symbolizing that which cannot be seen.  My mission is to help people feel a spiritual and emotional kinship beyond our own species.

My works are aimed toward connecting with those who feel there is something more to life... more to the fellow beings with whom we share this planet.

In short, I am an artist who paints to explore the spiritual and emotional equality of the natural world.

BIOGRAPHY:

EMILY  AMADHIA  KING    (NÉE ALBEE)

Growing-up in rural Michigan, Emily Amadhia King spent every moment she could in the woods that surrounded her home. And so developed her love of Nature, wild animals, and the way that sunlight spills through woodlands.

Through her work, she strives to capture the feelings of awe in the presence of Great Nature. Her artistic style, inspired by the works of Robert Kuhn, Richard Schmid, and Fumito Ueda, walks the line between dream and reality.

“There’s a feeling you get sometimes, when you know you’re a-part-of Nature rather than apart-from it. Painting lets me explore those moments, live in them and try to understand them.”

King (née Albee) has been a studio artist and animator for films, video-games and TV since 1994. She has worked for companies including Walt Disney Feature Animation, Activision, and NBC/Universal where she was given a Peabody Award for her contributions.

Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries in California, Alaska, Michigan and Arizona, and are part of the collections of the Fairbanks Historical Society and Yukon Quest International Sled-dog Race.
